Festive, fudgy brownie bites topped with vibrant green frosting and sprinkles, these quick Christmas tree hats are perfect for holiday gatherings or as a fun project with kids.

This is one of my favorite holiday treats to make with my family because it combines baking and decorating in a fun way that everyone enjoys.

Ingredients

  • For the Brownies: 120 g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, 150 g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 70 g (2/3 cup) all-purpose flour, 40 g (1/3 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 tsp salt
  • For Decoration: 100 g (3.5 oz) white chocolate melted, Green gel food coloring, 12 strawberries (hulled washed and dried), Assorted sprinkles and/or edible stars, 12 small marshmallows (optional for hat base)

Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a square 20x20 cm (8x8-inch) baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2:
Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave let cool slightly.
Step 3:
In a bowl whisk together melted butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla whisking until smooth.
Step 4:
Sift in flour cocoa powder and salt. Mix gently until just combined.
Step 5:
Pour batter into prepared pan smoothing the top. Bake for 20 25 minutes until set but fudgy. Cool completely in the pan.
Step 6:
Once cool cut brownies into 12 squares.
Step 7:
In a small bowl tint melted white chocolate with green food coloring.
Step 8:
Place a marshmallow on each brownie square if using then set a strawberry (pointed side up) on top to form the hat.
Step 9:
Spoon or pipe green chocolate over each strawberry to resemble a Christmas tree. Decorate immediately with sprinkles and/or edible stars.
Step 10:
Let set for 10 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate briefly until chocolate hardens.
