# Components:
→ Cake
01 - 1 large store-bought plain sheet cake, approximately 9x13 inches, vanilla or chocolate flavor
→ Filling
02 - 1 cup cold heavy cream
03 - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
→ Decorations
05 - 1.5 cups ready-to-spread vanilla or chocolate frosting
06 - Assorted colored gel food coloring
07 - Assorted holiday sprinkles, mini candies, and edible decorations
08 - 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
# Method:
01 - Using a chilled mixing bowl, whip together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
02 - Remove the store-bought cake from its packaging and trim edges as needed to create a neat rectangle. Place cake on parchment paper and level by gently slicing off any domed top. With the short side facing you, roll the cake using the parchment paper into a log, then unroll to set the shape.
03 - Spread the whipped cream filling evenly over the cake surface, leaving a 1-inch border all around. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the filling if desired. Roll the cake tightly from the short end, using the parchment paper to guide it into a log shape. Wrap in parchment and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
04 - Divide frosting into separate bowls and tint with gel colors to create various hues. Spread a base layer of frosting over the rolled cake. Using piping bags or zip-top bags with snipped corners, pipe playful sweater-inspired patterns like zigzags, dots, and lines. Adorn with sprinkles, candies, and edible decorations for a festive finish.
05 - Cut the cake roll into 1-inch slices and serve promptly.
